  • Second year in a row Renault has taken the overall win, after the Renault 5 E-Tech electric in 2024/25
  • Distinctive design, generous space and advanced technology make the Renault 4 E-Tech electric a stand-out choice in a competitive market
  • Awards judged by an international panel of experts including Dr Andy Palmer, Ray Massey, Shiro Nakamura, and Mike Rutherford
  • With the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant, for which every electric Renault qualifies, prices for the Renault 4 E-Tech electric now start from £25,495 on-the-road

The Renault 4 E-Tech electric has been crowned ‘World Champion’ and ‘Best Electric Car’ at the 2025/26 New Car World Championships, the second year in a row that Renault has taken the top title following last year’s win for the Renault 5 E-Tech electric.

On once again awarding a 100% electric Renault the top accolade, Mike Rutherford, Founder and Chair of the awards, commented: “The Renault 4 E-Tech electric is, all things considered, superior to and more desirable than many of its more expensive EV rivals from across the globe. For this and other reasons, the Renault 4 richly deserves to be crowned The New Car World Champion 2025/2026.”

Adam Wood, Managing Director, Renault UK, said: “The Renault 4 E-Tech electric is proof that practicality and personality can go hand in hand.  Following Renault 5’s prior success at these awards, this accolade for R4 further proves that our electric range provides the captivating style, intuitive technology and efficiency of a class-leading modern EV.”

The New Car World Championships are organised by the independent, not-for-profit Best Cars of the Year, and judged by a unique international panel of designers, engineers, TV presenters, journalists, racing drivers and industry leaders. Esteemed figures on the 2025/26 panel include Mike Rutherford, Founder and Chair of the awards; automotive leader Dr Andy Palmer; Daily Mail journalist Ray Massey; and design legend Shiro Nakamura.

A modern reinvention of the iconic original, the Renault 4 E-Tech electric blends character with practicality and advanced technology. With its 2.62m wheelbase, it offers impressive interior space, particularly for those in the back. The 420-litre boot is made easily accessible by the wide opening and low load sill, and with the rear seats folded, this versatile space grows to 1,405 litres. Renault’s award-winning OpenR Link system is standard across the range, accessed via a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, while a 100 kW DC charger means charging from 15 to 80% takes just 30 minutes.
